J1 Cultural Exchange Program

 J-1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that is authorized for individuals who intend to participate in approved exchange visitor programs in the United States.

The J-1 cultural exchange program is a program that annually attracts around 300,000 individuals from 200 countries and territories to the United States to study in U.S. high schools, universities, and research institutions, build professional networks, enhance English language and intercultural skills, the programs main objective is to give participants training and culture experience in the USA.

The J-1 visa is granted to individuals who belong to one of the following exchange visitor categories: Au pair and Edu Care, Camp Counselor, Government Visitor, Intern, International Visitor, Physician, Professor and Research Scholar, Short-term Scholar.

 Hospitality J1 Cultural Exchange Program

The J-1 cultural exchange program in hospitality is of two category Intern & Trainee a program by the U.S. Department of State was established as part of the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961 (The Fulbright-Hays Act) that gives students, recent graduates, and young professionals from around the world the opportunity to come to the United States and share their culture and ideas with Americans while receiving in-depth training in the front office or food and beverage industry.

The Maximum duration of the Hospitality J1 Internship and Trainee Program is 12 months with a grace period of 30 days to visit tourist places and travel in the USA.

 J1 Visa Eligibility Requirements for Interns

Interns must be Non-US Citizens age between 18 years to 35 years and meet one of the following:

· Who are currently enrolled Full-time and pursuing studies outside the United States at a ministerial recognized degree/certificate-granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States of America

                                                                                                                             Or

· Who have graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to their exchange visitor program start date, Internship must be in your field of study.

· Have proficiency in English Education Level and Employment history.

· Duration up to 12 months and minimum 3 weeks.

· Multiple J1 Internships can be completed if all requirements continue to be met and their collective duration does not exceed 12 month or 90 days have elapsed between programs.

J1 Visa Eligibility Requirements for Trainees

     A trainee must be Non-US Citizens age between 18 years to 35 years and meet one of the following:

· Has a degree or professional certificate from outside United States with a Ministerial recognized post-secondary academic institution and at least one year of prior related work experience in his or her occupational field outside the United States of America

Or

· Has five years of work experience outside the United States in the occupational field in which they are seeking training

· Have proficiency in English Education Level and Employment history.

· Duration up to 12 months and minimum 3 weeks.

· Additional training programs can be completed if all requirements are met and at least two years of residency outside the United States after the previous j1 program

· A valid passport (should be valid for at least 6 months after your program end date and your departure from the USA).

· A updated latest Resume

· Passport Size professional Photo

· Bachelors or Diploma Certificate along with Mark sheet

· Bona fide Letter from the Institution

· Work experience Certificate

· Bank Statement with a Minimum Balance equivalent to $2000

 A valid passport (should be valid for at least 6 months after your program end date and your departure from the USA).

Your official DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility for Exchange Visitor Status.

Receipt of the I-901 SEVIS Fee Payment.

A printed copy of the Non-immigrant Visa Application Form, confirmation page.

A printed copy of the Embassy Appointment confirmation.

Receipt of the Embassy Fee Payment.

Visa Interview

A Photograph (unless you have already uploaded your photo successfully to the DS-160 application).

FAQ

Can I choose the Location of my Internship/Trainee?
Although we encourage you to provide us with any location preferences you may have, please remember that you may be limiting your placement options if you hold out for a certain location. Please also keep in mind that the high cost of living in these popular locations is prohibitive. You can always visit the tourist spots on weekends and vacation time.

Can I Travel when in USA?
As a J-1 exchange visitor, you are permitted to remain in the country up to 30
days past the end date of your Form DS-2019. This time is to allow you time for tourism and packing. You do not
have work authorization during this time.

Can I visit my home country during the Program?
We highly recommend you stay in the United States for the duration of your training program, as you are committed to the host company for the entire 12 months.

Do I have to pay for my Flight to USA?
Yes, you are responsible for organizing your travel details to USA.

How long does the Process take?
You will be expected to arrive at your host company within 6 to 8 weeks from time of a receiving your Offer Letter and Training Plan.

Do I need Medical Insurance?
Yes, you will be covered by basic medical and travel insurance for the duration of your training in USA through your sponsor organization. You will receive information on your insurance from the sponsor organization with your DS form (work permit).

How do I apply for a Social Security Card?
You will apply for your social security card after you arrive in the United States, we will provide you with a form to complete and take to the social security office.

Can I extend my Training Program after the 12 months?
Depending on your individual situation

Stages of Application Process:

Stage 1 After Assessment, registration, documentation, we forward to candidates profile to the Employers in USA for scheduling the Interviews.
Stage 2 Once the Employers select the candidates, we shall notify about the telephonic interviews dates, and details regarding the employer.
Stage 3 On successful completion of the interview, an offer letter, explaining the job description (Training plan), pay and other benefits information is issued to the candidate.
Stage 4 After receiving the signed offer letter, and all documents along with the Program fee payments, we shall arrange for US sponsorship (DS 2019), apply for Insurance and ask the Candidate to make the SEVIS fee payment.
Stage 5 We shall send the candidates the DS 2019 (Work permit Documentation) Insurance, SEVIS Fee Receipt, to secure an Interview date with the US Consulate.
The US Consulates require physical presence of candidates for the interview with visa officer. The applicable Visa fee has to be paid directly to the US Consulate.
