Courses offered
  1. First Degree Courses in Arts and Sciences (Bachelor's degree) are normally of three or four years' duration.
  2. Sandwich Courses are where the coursework is accompanied by practical work. A student can Complete 2 years of education and a year of commercial training before appearing for final year. Most universities offer this type of education.
  3. Higher National Diploma (HND) is awarded by Vocational and Technical Educational Councils. They offer a 2-year course in a vocational subject like scientific and technical business subjects.
  4. Vocational Courses offer an opportunity to enter the university system. Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC), General Vocational Qualifications (GNVQ), General Scottish Vocational Qualifications (GSVQ) offer recognized courses in a range of disciplines.
  5. Postgraduate study may take the form of an independent piece of research under supervision or a taught course, and leads to a variety of degrees and awards. The taught courses normally last for one or sometimes two years.

Test Required

This section provides information about GRE, GMAT, SAT, TSE, IELTS and TOEFL. The above mentioned tests are applicable depending on the type of courses candidate obtains .

Working during study

The Rules state that applicants must be able to support themselves and any dependants without working. This means that while there is provision for students to take employment during vacations or spare time, no account may be taken of any prospective earnings from that employment in assessing the ability of a student to meet the maintenance requirement, except where the educational establishment at which the student has a place:

A publicly funded institution of further or higher education which is itself providing and      guaranteeing the employment, and has provided details of how much the applicant will earn

Work permit after study

Students can stay on in the UK to work. Subject to meeting the relevant criteria, students who have successfully completed a recognized degree course may be able to switch to work permit employment in the UK after completing their studies. An employer can apply for a work permit for such a student without the student having to return home.
